19. Vol 1.
In celebration of completing my MSc graduation I self-published a portfolio/book of select works produced over the course of my architectural career. Beginning with my first foray into the architectural waters and ending with my first professional solo commission it is a collaged microcosm of not just my experience but my evolved architectural position. I have grown in my conviction that architecture makes our world, and consequently the people in it. In other words, it is the solvent facilitating life as we know it, reflecting existing values while thrusting us forward into new paradigms and realms of possibility.
Throughout the works catalogued I believe four common threads act as pillars of my architectural position. These are places of exchange, places of plasticity, places of vigour and – perhaps most importantly – places of tenderness. I create architecture that matters because all architecture matters. It impacts the lives of every living thing and forms the physical basis of humanity. Therefore, considerate design is now needed – more than ever – to help realise a kinder, more empathetic and more united world.
